I’ve seen a lot of minivan camper beds where every morning you have to take the bed apart, move separate mattress pieces around to create a sofa, and then find somewhere to store all the bedding.
In a tiny camper, I really didn’t want that daily routine.
My tri-fold mattress stays attached to the bed frame and simply “travels” with it when the bed converts into a sofa.
But what about the bedding?
My little “eureka” moment was realizing I didn’t have to store it at all! I leave everything right on the bed and use a fitted mattress protector to hold it together — even the pillows stay tucked into the otherwise unused space under the rear hatch.
Bonus: the protector is waterproof, so it also helps keep the bedding dry when we climb into the van on a rainy day.
A small detail, but one that makes daily camper life much easier.
