One thing that’s easy to forget in a camper build: your mattress needs to breathe too.
When two people sleep in a small van, moisture can build up underneath the mattress surprisingly quickly. If there’s nowhere for that moisture to escape, you can end up with dampness, condensation, and eventually mold.
That’s one reason I drilled lots of ventilation holes into my bed platform — to let air move under the mattress instead of trapping moisture.
Small detail, but pretty important for long-term comfort.
