When I first started planning the solar system for my Sienna camper, I was convinced I needed some kind of solar tracker to squeeze every bit of power out of the panels.
Looking back, not building one was probably one of the smartest decisions I made.
I started with portable foldable panels and eventually upgraded to 400W of rigid panels mounted on the roof. What surprised me is that my “less-than-perfect” panel placement ended up giving me an unexpected advantage that I never planned for.
In my video I walk through the whole setup, including how I charge from both solar and the alternator while driving, and how I make sure my starter battery never gets accidentally drained.
